Join the Cali Crushers at the Longest-Running Women’s Cricket Tournament in the U.S.

The Cali Crushers are headed to Conyers, GA from May 24-26, 2024 to compete in the 11th edition of the Georgia Women’s Cricket Association’s T20 Cricket Tournament, and we want you on our team! It’s going to be a fiercely contested matchup with eight women’s cricket teams battling it out over three days under the peachy warmth of the suburban-Atlanta sun.

In last year’s tournament, the home team Atlanta Pearls Women’s Cricket Club emerged triumphant against the Belizean Royal Strikers and the Bermuda Triangle Gems. They’ll be back on the pitch to defend their title against a host of new and returning teams. The full lineup will feature:

The Fixtures

Groups A & B will internally compete round-robin-style. The respective top two teams will then clash head-to-head in the final. Each group round will consist of three matches taking place simultaneously on three separate fields. That means spectators will be treated to 20+ women’s cricket matches across the long weekend, and it also means the players better have a whole lot of Icy Hot on-hand.

The T20 tournament begins at 9:00 am on Friday, May 24th at the Earl O’Neal Cricket Grounds’ emerald ovals. This sprawling sports complex features multiple cricket fields wreathed by sweetgum and loblolly pine bosques that whisper cheers at the batters whenever the breeze comes through.

Raising Breast Cancer Awareness

Organized annually by Petal Samuels, the Georgia Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament has long served as an accessible nexus for women’s cricket in an adverse domestic landscape. This year’s tournament will make a particularly powerful statement about girl power and women’s sports, with its mission to raise breast cancer awareness.

In support of this objective, the tournament will feature pink cricket balls that might just look like the Georgia sun setting into the trees when the big hitters go for sixes.

And not only is the annual GWCA T20 Tournament a women-organized event highlighting only women cricketers, it’s also officiated by an all-women’s umpire squad. It doesn’t get any better than that!

Above all, the yearly tournament is a celebration of women’s cricket, with the GWCA and supporters donating their time and resources to enable women to play competitive cricket.

Regardless of wickets, all participants win at the free daily lunches featuring a sizzling array of Caribbean eats. There’s nothing better than playing some cricket, then snacking on some escovitch fish on a sunny, late-spring day.

Although a clear champion will be crowned by Sunday evening, the subsequent awards ceremony will recognize many contributions on and off the field.

With nearly 100 women cricketers heading to the Atlanta region over Memorial Day Weekend, the 11th Annual GWCA T20 Tournament is going to be the event of the year for women’s club cricket.
